Introduction

  • How did God speak to the people in the Old Testament?

  • What is the purpose of the pattern or shadow picture in the Old Testament?

  • What is my function as a priest?

My very first experience with the Presence of God, while reading the word of God. I was reading the Torah – The First 5 books of the Old Testament, when I came to the end of Exodus, as I read this verse the Presence of God came upon me! I had a sense of God speaking to me and actually wanting to speak back to me!

The Tabernacle

Ex 25:8 Let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. [Heb. 8:1, 2; 10:1.] Ex 25:9  And you shall make it according to all that I show you, the pattern of the tabernacle or dwelling and the pattern of all the furniture of it.

  • Let them make Me a sanctuary,

    • that I may dwell among them.

    • [Heb. 8:1, 2; 10:1.]

  • And you shall make it according to all that I show you,

    • God gave Moses the pattern of the Tabernacle for a reason

      • When Moses was on the Mountain and in the Presence of God he saw the true Tabernacle in heaven

      • The pattern of the tabernacle shadowed the future plans of God

      • We must also pay close attention to patterns in order to understand the purposes of God

    • the pattern of the tabernacle or dwelling

    • and the pattern of all the furniture of it

      • Both the Tabernacle and the Furniture on the inside had to be made according to God’s pattern

      • [Heb 8:5, Heb 9:24]

The Tabernacle a Pattern of Heaven

Exo 25:40 And see to it that you copy [exactly] their pattern which was shown you on the mountain. [Heb. 8:5-6]

  • And see to it that you copy [exactly] their pattern

  • which was shown you on the mountain. [Heb. 8:5-6]

    • Moses was shown the pattern of the truth in heaven

    • God, in His wisdom and predestined plan, gave Moses the pattern by which we could approach Him and have fellowship with Him

Moses’ obedience in Setting up the pattern of the Tabernacle

Ex 40:1 AND THE Lord said to Moses, 2 On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting [of God with you]. 3 And you shall put in it the ark of the Testimony and screen the ark [of God's Presence] with the veil. [Heb. 10:19-23.] 4  You shall bring in the [showbread] table and set in order the things that are to be upon it; and you shall bring in the lampstand and set up and light its lamps. [Rev. 21:23-25.] 5  You shall set the golden altar for the incense before the ark of the Testimony [outside the veil] and put the hanging or screen at the tabernacle door. 6  You shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting. 7 And you shall set the laver between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it. 8  And you shall set up the court [curtains] round about and hang up the hanging or screen at the court gate. 9  You shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it, and shall consecrate it and all its furniture, and it shall be holy. 10  You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils; and consecrate (set apart for God) the altar, and the altar shall be most holy. 11  And you shall anoint the laver and its base and consecrate it. 12  You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water. [John 17:17-19.] 13  You shall put on Aaron the holy garments, and anoint and consecrate him, so he may serve Me as priest. 14  And you shall bring his sons and put long and sleeved tunics on them, 15  And you shall anoint them as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

  • AND THE Lord said to Moses: “On the first day of the first month

    • you shall set up the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting [of God with you].

      • The Tabernacle had a very specific purpose

      • It was called the TENT OF MEETING

      • In the Old Testament God made a way so that He could meet with man

      • In the New Testament God Himself, IN Jesus Christ, became the WAY!

  • God told Moses to set up the Tabernacle in a very specific order:

    • And you shall put in it the ark of the Testimony and screen the ark [of God's Presence] with the veil.

      • [Heb. 10:19-23.]

    • You shall bring in the [showbread] table and set in order the things that are to be upon it;

    • and you shall bring in the lampstand and set up and light its lamps. [Rev. 21:23-25.]

    • You shall set the golden altar for the incense before the ark of the Testimony [outside the veil]

    • and put the hanging or screen at the tabernacle door.

    • You shall set the altar of the burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.

    • And you shall set the laver between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it.

    • And you shall set up the court [curtains] round about

    • and hang up the hanging or screen at the court gate.

    • You shall take the anointing oil and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it,

      • and shall consecrate it and all its furniture, and it shall be holy.

      • You shall anoint the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils;

      • and consecrate (set apart for God) the altar, and the altar shall be most holy.

      • And you shall anoint the laver and its base and consecrate it.

    • The Tabernacle was set up from the inside outward and NOT the other way round

      • This is very important and the importance of this is VERY significant

    • God told Moses to first set up the tabernacle

      • God prepared the way for man to have fellowship with Him

      • Man did Not prepare the way to have fellowship with God

      • God in His love first loved us and initiated out of His own with us

      • God wants to have a personal two way love relationship with man

      • The Holy Spirit once said to me: “I want to speak with you much more than you want to speak with Me!”

  • After the Tabernacle was set up God told Moses to prepare those who will be ministering there

    • You shall bring Aaron and his sons to the door of the Tent of Meeting and wash them with water.

      • [John 17:17-19.]

    • You shall put on Aaron the holy garments,

      • and anoint and consecrate him,

      • so he may serve Me as priest.

    • And you shall bring his sons and put long and sleeved tunics on them,

      • And you shall anoint them as you anointed their father,

      • that they may minister to Me as priests;

      • for their anointing shall be to them for an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.

Moses Obeyed God

Exo 40:16 Thus did Moses; according to all that the Lord commanded him, so he did. 17 And on the first day of the first month in the second year the tabernacle was erected. 18  Moses set up the tabernacle, laid its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and erected its pillars. 19  [Moses] spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it, as the Lord had commanded him. 20 He took the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] and put it into the ark, and set the poles [in the rings] on the ark, and put the mercy seat on top of the ark. 21  [Moses] brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the screen and screened the ark of the Testimony, as the Lord had commanded him. 22  Moses put the table [of showbread] in the Tent of Meeting on the north side of the tabernacle outside the veil; 23  He set the bread [of the Presence] in order on it before the Lord, as the Lord had commanded him. [John 6:32-35.] 24 And he put the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting opposite the table on the south side of the tabernacle. 25 Moses set up and lighted the lamps before the Lord, as the Lord commanded him. 26 He put the golden altar [of incense] in the Tent of Meeting before the veil; 27  He burned sweet incense [symbol of prayer] upon it, as the Lord commanded him. [Ps. 141:2; Rev. 8:3.] 28 And he set up the hanging or screen at the door of the tabernacle. 29  [Moses] put the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting and offered on it the burnt offering and the cereal offering, as the Lord commanded him. 30 And Moses set the laver between the Tent of Meeting and the altar and put water in it for washing. 31 And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet there. 32 When they went into the Tent of Meeting or came near the altar, they washed, as the Lord commanded Moses. 33 And he erected the court round about the tabernacle and the altar and set up the hanging or screen at the court gate. So Moses finished the work.

  • Thus did Moses; according to all that the Lord commanded him, so he did.

    • We can trust God’s Word and should not question God or even try to interpret His word away

    • When the Word does not fit our doctrines we should not try and adapt the Word to suit or interpretation

      • Moses’ obedience to God’s Word was diligent and exact

        • This is a sign of the perfection of the LAW and how it must be kept perfectly

  • And on the first day of the first month in the second year the tabernacle was erected.

    • Moses set up the tabernacle, laid its sockets, set up its boards, put in its bars, and erected its pillars.

    • [Moses] spread the tent over the tabernacle and put the covering of the tent over it,

      • as the Lord had commanded him.

  • He took the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] and put it into the ark,

    • and set the poles [in the rings] on the ark,

    • and put the mercy seat on top of the ark.

  • [Moses] brought the ark into the tabernacle

  • and set up the veil of the screen and screened the ark of the Testimony,

    • as the Lord had commanded him.

  • Moses put the table [of showbread] in the Tent of Meeting

    • on the north side of the tabernacle outside the veil;

  • He set the bread [of the Presence] in order on it before the Lord,

    • as the Lord had commanded him. [John 6:32-35.]

  • And he put the lampstand in the Tent of Meeting opposite the table

    • on the south side of the tabernacle.

  • Moses set up and lighted the lamps before the Lord,

    • as the Lord commanded him.

  • He put the golden altar [of incense] in the Tent of Meeting before the veil;

  • He burned sweet incense [symbol of prayer] upon it,

    • as the Lord commanded him. [Ps. 141:2; Rev. 8:3.]

  • And he set up the hanging or screen at the door of the tabernacle.

  • [Moses] put the altar of burnt offering at the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting

    • and offered on it the burnt offering and the cereal offering,

      • as the Lord commanded him.

  • And Moses set the laver between the Tent of Meeting

    • and the altar and put water in it for washing.

    • And Moses and Aaron and his sons washed their hands and their feet there.

    • When they went into the Tent of Meeting or came near the altar, they washed,

      • as the Lord commanded Moses.

  • And he erected the court round about the tabernacle

    • and the altar and set up the hanging or screen at the court gate.

  • So Moses finished the work

  • Moses finished the work God gave him to do!

The Glory of God - The Result of Moses’ Obedience

Exo 40:34 THEN the cloud [the Shekinah, God's visible presence] covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle! [Rev. 15:8.] 35 And Moses was not able to enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud remained upon it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 36  In all their journeys, whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle, the Israelites went onward; 37  But if the cloud was not taken up, they did not journey on till the day that it was taken up. 38  For throughout all their journeys the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

  • THEN the cloud

    • [the Shekinah, God's visible presence] covered the Tent of Meeting,

    • and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle! [Rev. 15:8.]

    • When Moses had followed God’s requirements

      • the Glory of God came and filled the temple

      • When we follow God’s instructions we WILL see the glory of God manifest in our lives

      • When we follow the Word of God and do exactly what God tells us to do we will see the results

  • And Moses was not able to enter the Tent of Meeting,

    • because the cloud remained upon it,

    • and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

  • In all their journeys,

    • whenever the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle,

      • the Israelites went onward;

    • But if the cloud was not taken up,

      • they did not journey on till the day that it was taken up.

      • The Israelites had a great reverence for the Presence of God and obeyed the guidance of God

        • Jesus said that He could do NOTHING except He not first see the Father doing it

        • We must know the Fathers’ character and nature  - heart of the Father

        • When we know the Father’s heart we will know the Father’s will

          • The Will of God is contained in the Word of God the bible

        • As Christians we must learn to become sensitive to the Spirit of God’s guidance

    • For throughout all their journeys the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day,

      • and fire was in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.

The Place of Meeting in the Tent of Meeting

Ex 25:16 And you shall put inside the ark the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] which I will give you. 17 And you shall make a mercy seat (a covering) of pure gold, two cubits and a half long and a cubit and a half wide. 18 And you shall make two cherubim (winged angelic figures) of [solid] hammered gold on the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub on each end, making the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat, on the two ends of it. 20 And the cherubim shall spread out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, facing each other and looking down toward the mercy seat. 21 You shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] that I will give you. 22 There I will meet with you and, from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the Testimony, I will speak intimately with you of all which I will give you in commandment to the Israelites.

  • And you shall put inside the ark the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] which I will give you.

  • And you shall make a mercy seat (a covering) of pure gold,

    • two cubits and a half long and a cubit and a half wide.

  • And you shall make two cherubim (winged angelic figures)

    • of [solid] hammered gold on the two ends of the mercy seat.

    • Make one cherub on each end,

    • making the cherubim of one piece with the mercy seat, on the two ends of it.

    • And the cherubim shall spread out their wings above,

      • covering the mercy seat with their wings,

      • facing each other and looking down toward the mercy seat.

  • You shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark,

    • and in the ark you shall put the Testimony [the Ten Commandments] that I will give you.

    • Every detail of the Ark of the Covenant was given to Moses

    • The Ark of the Covenant had to made in a very specific way to reveal the mystery of the future plans of God

      • By God’s grace I was given a powerful revelation of WHY the mercy seat had to ON TOP of the Ark

        • See Testimony Page – The Sign of the Ark of the Covenant

  • There I will meet with you and,

    • from above the mercy seat,

    • from between the two cherubim that are upon the ark of the Testimony,

      • There was a very specific place WHERE God had determined to MEET with Moses of the High Priest

      • The Shekinah Glory of God would appear between the wings ON TOP of the mercy seat

      • God would reveal Himself and His Glory to man

  • I will speak intimately with you of all which I will give you in commandment to the Israelites.

    • God wants to SPEAK and communicate with His people

    • God loves His people and desires to have an intimate, two way relationship with them

The Temple

2Chron 5:1 THUS ALL the work that Solomon did for the house of the Lord was finished. He brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated, and the silver, the gold, and all the vessels he put in the treasuries of the house of God. 2  Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers' houses of the Israelites, to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the City of David, which is Zion. 3  All the men of Israel gathered to the king at the feast in the seventh month. 4  And all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites took up the ark. 5  And the priests and Levites brought up the ark, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent. 6  Also King Solomon and all the assembly of Israel who were gathered to him before the ark sacrificed sheep and oxen so numerous that they could not be counted or reported. 7  And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place, to the sanctuary of the house, into the Holy of Holies, under the wings of the cherubim; 8  For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark, making a covering above the ark and its poles. 9  And they drew out the poles of the ark, so that the ends of the poles protruding from the ark were visible from the front of the Holy of Holies, but were not visible from without. It is there to this day. 10  There was nothing in the ark except the two tables [the Ten Commandments] which Moses put in it at Mount Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of Egypt. 11 And when the priests had come out of the Holy Place - for all the priests present had sanctified themselves, separating themselves from everything that defiles, without regard to their divisions; 12 And all the Levites who were singers, all of those of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, with their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, having cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them 120 priests blowing trumpets; 13 And when the trumpeters and singers were joined in unison, making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments for song and praised the Lord, saying, For He is good, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever, then the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud, 14  So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

  • THUS ALL the work that Solomon did for the house of the Lord was finished.

    • Solomon also did all that God had directed him through his father David just like Moses

    • He brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated,

      • and the silver, the gold, and all the vessels he put in the treasuries of the house of God.

  • Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel

    • and all the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers' houses of the Israelites,

    • to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the City of David, which is Zion.

      • God had determined that He would build His temple in Jerusalem

    • All the men of Israel gathered to the king at the feast in the seventh month

      • God had not only determined where to build the temple, but also WHEN to dedicate it

      • There were three feasts which God had also determined when they shall be:

        • The Feast of Trumpets / The Feast of Tabernacles / The Wedding Feast

        • On the day on which the Temple was dedicated, trumpets were blown

        • These things prophetically prefigure our union with God when we will meet with Him eternally

    • And all the elders of Israel came, and the Levites took up the ark.

    • And the priests and Levites brought up the ark, the Tent of Meeting,

      • God not only determined when and where, but also WHO would carry the Ark and minister in the Tent of Meeting

      • Only the priests of God can minster before God in the Temple of God

        • Priests ministered to God between God and the people

      • In order to minster to God we need to be priests of God

    • and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent.

  • Also King Solomon and all the assembly of Israel who were gathered to him before the ark

    • sacrificed sheep and oxen so numerous that they could not be counted or reported.

      • God determined that all the vessels in the Temple HAD to be cleansed by sacrifices

    • And the priests brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord to its place,

      • to the sanctuary of the house, into the Holy of Holies,

        • under the wings of the cherubim;

          • For the cherubim spread out their wings over the place of the ark,

        • making a covering above the ark and its poles. And they drew out the poles of the ark, so that the ends of the poles protruding from the ark were visible from the front of the Holy of Holies, but were not visible from without. It is there to this day.

        • There was nothing in the ark except the two tables [the Ten Commandments], which Moses put in it at Mount Horeb, when the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites when they came out of Egypt.

    • And when the priests had come out of the Holy Place

      • for all the priests present had sanctified themselves,

        • separating themselves from everything that defiles, without regard to their divisions;

          • Even the priests had to be separated and cleansed by washing

          • This washing refers to the washing away of the sins of those who will minister to God

          • This prophetically prefigure the forgiveness of the sins of those who will believe and separate themselves from the world

      • And all the Levites who were singers, all of those of Asaph, Heman, and Jeduthun, with their sons and kinsmen, arrayed in fine linen, having cymbals, harps, and lyres, stood at the east end of the altar,

      • and with them 120 priests blowing trumpets;

  • And when the trumpeters and singers were joined in unison,

    • making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord,

      • The priests where in perfect unison AFTER they had been washed

      • The priests were praising God in unison and perfect union with God

      • This prefigured the perfect union we were given in Christ Jesus to God the Father

      • The priests were in perfect thankfulness towards God

    • and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments

      • for song and praised the Lord, saying,

      • For He is good, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever,

        • The priests had a revelation of God’s goodness, mercy and loving-kindness

    • then the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud,

      • So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud,

      • for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

        • The Church of Jesus Christ need the Power and the Glory of God restore to it

        • God had chosen the church of Jesus Christ to demonstrate to the principalities His power

        • Once we obey and take the Word of God to heart

          • The LOST connection between us and God will be restored

          • Jesus Christ promised that when we believe His Word we will see signs and wonders follow us

          • He promised that if we steadfastly believe His Word we will do what He has done and will do even greater things than these

The Body is the Temple

1Cor 6:17 But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him. & 1Cor 6:19 Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, 20 You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honour God and bring glory to Him in your body.

  • But the person who is united to the Lord

    • When we believe and accept the Word of God we become born again from above

    • becomes one spirit with Him.

      • Then we become ONE with the Lord Jesus Christ

      • When a man and a woman becomes ONE they come into the deepest intimacy with one another

      • This is why it is so important what it means to KNOW God or Jesus Christ

    • Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary)

      • God had created man to be a temple in which to live by His Spirit

        • We must not underestimate the reason God had created us to be a temple

        • God wants to MEET with us and have personal fellowship with Him

      • of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you,

        • God Himself personally desires to live in us and to have fellowship with us

      • Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God?

        • God does not give us His Spirit to live in us because we deserve Him, but because that was His purpose and because He loves us

        • When God created man He said it was VERY GOOD!

        • God was very pleased to make us

        • God wants to enjoy us!

    • You are not your own,

    • You were bought with a price

      • [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own].

        • God demonstrated His love for us by the very intense and expensive price He was willing to pay for us

  • So then,

    • honour God and bring glory to Him in your body.

      • When we truly understand God’s purpose for us to have a relationship and to have fellowship

        • We will want to bring God glory in our body

        • When we hear God’s Voice and bring God’s heart to this world we give glory to God

Called to be sons and daughters of the Living God

2Cor 6:16  What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [Exo. 25:8; Exo. 29:45; Lev. 26:12; Jer. 31:1; Eze. 37:27] 17  So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, [Isa. 52:11] 18  And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty. [Isa. 43:6; Hos. 1:10]

  • What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols?

    • For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said:

      • The apostle Paul understood that we were made to be a temple for God

      • I will dwell in and with and among them

        • God wanted to stay in us

          • Sin separated us from Him and we died and lost the glory and the connection with God

      • and will walk in and with and among them,

        • God wanted to live through us in the earth and in the physical world

        • and I will be their God,

          • God wants to show us His love and want to show Himself strong to, in and through us

        • and they shall be My people.

          • God loves us and want to be our God and lead and guide us in all our ways

        • [Exo. 25:8; Exo. 29:45; Lev. 26:12; Jer. 31:1; Eze. 37:27]

      • So, come out from among [unbelievers],

        • and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord,

        • and touch not [any] unclean thing;

          • Just like the priest had to be washed and keep themselves clean we also have to do

      • then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor,

        • God is loving kindness and desires to treat us with love and kindness

        • [Isa. 52:11]

      • And I will be a Father to you,

        • God is the Father of our spirits

        • We are spirit of His Spirit and were created in His image

        • God loves us and want to be Father to us

        • God loves us like a father loves his children

      • and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

        • God’s specific purpose was for us to be His sons and daughters

        • God called us to become and live LIKE His Son Jesus Christ

        • [Isa. 43:6; Hos. 1:10]

The Three part Temple of the Body

Gen 2:7 Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being.

Or

Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. [I Cor. 15:45-49.]

  • Then the Lord God

  • formed man from the dust of the ground

    • God made man in His image

    • and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life,

      • God breathed His Spirit into man

      • God made man to have a spirit so that he could connect with His Spirit

      • God’s Spirit knows His Heart and therefore also His thoughts

    • and man became a living being / and man became a living soul

      • When the Spirit of God touched the fleshly body of man he became a living being

      • The living being of man is his soul

        • The soul is the will / intellect and emotions

        • The soul is the place where our memories (good and bad) are stored

    • You are a spirit, who have a soul, live in a body

      • You are a spirit – God’s Spirit giving physical life – Breach or Rauch

      • Have a soul – The Living being – Who you were

      • Live in a body – The Flesh – Dust of the earth

  • Just like the temple having the tree parts God made man to consist out of three parts

    • The Most Holy = The spirit

    • The Holy Place = The Soul

    • The Outer Court = The Physical Body

  • God made our spirit the place to meet with us by His Spirit!

The Human Being – Spirit, Soul & Body

1Thess 5:23 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

  • And may the God of peace Himself

    • Paul is reminding the church in Thessalonica that God Himself

      • have sanctified them

      • and will continue to sanctify them

    • It is not the believer’s responsibility to sanctify himself by his own effort,

      • It was God who gave His son to died for us to sanctify us

      • And when we continue to accept His love He will continue to be sanctify us

    • sanctify you through and through

      • [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God];

      • We have been purified and sanctified in every part of our being spirit / soul and body

      • When Jesus Christ paid for us He did a perfect work, because of His perfect sacrifice

      • We do NOT need to try and be made pure, we need to openly accept the righteousness we were freely given by God, in His love, through Jesus Christ

    • and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved

      • We are spirit, soul and body

      • We have been brought into a place where we are preserved like a pickled onion

      • sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

        • God has made us sound on every level – spirit / soul / body

          • Spirit – Salvation

          • Soul – Deliverance

          • Body – Healing

        • God made us clean UNTIL we meet Jesus Christ in the heavens

The Corporate Holy Temple of God

Eph 2:20 You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone. 21 In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]. 22 In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit.

  • You are built upon

    • the foundation of the apostles and prophets

      • The Spiritual Temple God is built upon the prophets and apostles

        • The prophets – The Word of God revealed and lived in the Old Testament

        • The apostles – The Word of God revealed and lived in the New Testament

    • with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone.

      • The corner stone determined the place from which everything is built

      • In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously,

        • Only IN CHRIST are we going to be able to harmonize with God and with one another

      • and it continues to rise (grow, increase)

        • into a holy temple in the Lord

          • God is busy creating a corporate Holy Temple out of individual holy temples

          • [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord].

            • God’s Temple was made for God’s Presence to dwell in

            • God is holy and His Temple must be holy

      • In Him [and in fellowship with one another]

        • The Spirit of God makes us ONE with God and one another

        • you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure]

          • with the rest,

        • to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God

          • in (by, through) the Spirit

            • God wants to live is us individually and corporately

            • The Full measure of God Spirit lives in us

God’s Presence manifested in praise

Psa 22:3 But You are holy, O You Who dwell in [the holy place where] the praises of Israel [are offered]. (AMPL) or

Psa 22:3 Nevertheless, you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Isra'el. (CJB) or

Psa 22:3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. (KJV)

  • But You are holy,

    • O You Who dwell in [the holy place

      • where] the praises of Israel [are offered] or

      • enthroned on the praises of Isra'el

      • יָשַׁב - yâshab - yaw-shab'- A primitive root; properly to sit down (specifically as judge, in ambush, in quiet); by implication to dwell, to remain; causatively to settle, to marry: -  (make to) abide (-ing), continue, (cause to, make to) dwell (-ing), ease self, endure, establish, X fail, habitation, haunt, (make to) inhabit (-ant), make to keep [house], lurking, X marry (-ing), (bring again to) place, remain, return, seat, set (-tle), (down-) sit (-down, still, -ting down, -ting [place] -uate), take, tarry.

        • God dwells in / inhabits and are enthroned in our praises

        • When we start to praise God we experience the Presence of God coming down upon us

          • When we praise God we can hear the heart of God clearly

        • God has restored the Presence of God or the Glory of God to His church

        • Glory of god is experienced by the Presence of the Spirit of God

Enter His Presence with Praise

Ps 100:1 A Psalm of thanksgiving and for the thank offering. MAKE A joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing! 3 Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. [Eph. 2:10.] 4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

  • A Psalm of thanksgiving and for the thank offering.

    • MAKE A joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!

      • We must learn to get free from religious service to God

      • God is seeking people who LOVE to dance and be themselves before Him

    • Serve the Lord with gladness!

    • Come before His Presence with singing!

      • We come into God’s Presence in heaven when we worship God from the heart

    • Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God!

      • We must know that God exists in order to come before Him

      • We must not only know it mentally or logically, but know it in our hearts

      • It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]!

      • We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. [Eph. 2:10.]

  • Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise!

    • We must enter before God with praise, thanksgiving and adoration in our hearts

      • When we praise, giving thanks, worship or lift up our hands in worship we enter God’s Presence

    •  Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

      • When we are thankful to God we enter His Presence and are able to hear His Voice

Prophecy

Rev 1:6 And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race), priests to His God and Father--to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever. Amen (so be it). [Exod. 19:6; Isa. 61:6.]

  • And formed us into a kingdom (a royal race),

    • God called us to be kings and to rule on this earth

  • priests to His God and Father

    • God has called us also to be priests to minister to God and between God and man

    • God called us to be ministers before His throne and in His sanctuary

    • We are chosen to be priests in the Heavenly Temple – Worship Him day and night

    • to Him be the glory and the power and the majesty

    • and the dominion throughout the ages and forever and ever.

      • Amen (so be it). [Exod. 19:6; Isa. 61:6.]

The Veil in the Temple torn

Matt 27:50 And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit. 51 And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; the earth shook and the rocks were split. [Exod. 26:31-35.] 52 The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep in death were raised [to life];

  • And Jesus cried again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.

    • And at once the curtain of the sanctuary of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;

      • The veil were torn from top to bottom indicating that God open the way from heaven to man

        • God in His love made a way where there was NO way

      • By Jesus’ sacrifice and death on the cross the way was opened for us to speak to God intimately

        • Our sins were for given and we were made righteous

        • We are NOW in perfect right standing with God

          • The connection that was lost in the garden between man and God was restored

          • We ARE no longer separated from God

          • We were made ONE with God

          • We were given the heart and mind of God

          • Now we KNOW and can know the mind of God

    • the earth shook and the rocks were split [Exod. 26:31-35.]

      • When Jesus died both heaven and earth were united

      • The stress and frustration the earth was in was removed

      • Man was no longer without hope and no longer enemies of God due to sin

  • The tombs were opened and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep in death were raised [to life];

    • The death of Jesus Christ was so powerful that those who had died in faith were resurrected

    • Through the cross God spiritually also resurrected us who were FAR from God and brought us near

The Veil has been removed

2Cor 3:12 Since we have such [glorious] hope (such joyful and confident expectation), we speak very freely and openly and fearlessly. 13 Nor [do we act] like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing [splendour which had been upon it]. 14 In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused [they had become dull and had lost the power of understanding]; for until this present day, when the Old Testament (the old covenant) is being read, that same veil still lies [on their hearts], not being lifted [to reveal] that in Christ it is made void and done away. 15 Yes, down to this [very] day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies upon their minds and hearts. 16 But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord, the veil is stripped off and taken away.

  • Since we have such [glorious] hope

    • We can now have living and true hope to have fellowship with God our loving Father

    • (such joyful and confident expectation),

    • we speak very freely and openly and fearlessly.

      • Since we are NOT separated from God we do not have to fear God anymore

      • We can confidently come before a loving God without fear

        • Now we have confident hope before God.

        • We are not ashamed to speak to and hear God

      • The relationship between us and God has been restored

      • God does not keep anything from us, because we now have complete peace between us

    • Nor [do we act] like Moses,

      • Moses was a type of the LAW and the righteousness that had to come by perfect obedience to it

      • who put a veil over his face

        • Moses was 80 days in the direct Presence of God

        • This caused His face to shine from the Glory

        • Moses experienced being ONE with God in Spirit

        • so that the Israelites might not gaze upon the finish of the vanishing

          • (MKJV)  “And we are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of the thing being done away;…”

          • The Glory of God in the Old Testament depended on perfect obedience to the LAW

          • Perfect righteousness could not be attained by performance before God, therefore the children of Israel could not look upon the Presence of the Glory of God

            • To them the Glory was TOO much

          • Since the Glory in the OT was based on man’s perfect righteousness, therefore the Glory would lasted only for a while! The sinfulness of man ate away at the Glory making it fade!

          • Moses was like God to the people and due to their sin the Glory was too pure and Holy

          • [splendour which had been upon it].

        • In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused

          • [they had become dull and had lost the power of understanding];

          • To those who have a hardened heart the Glory and goodness of God is too much

          • Those who trust in their own righteousness can NOT feel worthy before a perfect holy God

          • A hardened heart is a heart that trust in its own righteousness – This pride

    • for until this present day, when the Old Testament (the old covenant) is being read,

      • People were scared of the Glory and God – They did not feel worthy of God and felt condemned by the law of God

      • When men shrink from God’s Presence the Glory upon them fades

      • that same veil still lies [on their hearts],

        • In the Old Testament the Glory of God faded because of the hardness of men’s hearts

        • A hardened heart has an inability to accept God love and goodness

        • A hardened heart will rather trust in themselves

          • They will be either performance driven or fear driven

      • not being lifted [to reveal] that in Christ it is made void and done away.

        • Through the righteous life of Jesus Christ men can now come into God’s Presence

        • Those who constantly live in acceptance of the righteousness of Christ can now remain in the Glory of God. The glory never fading

        • The Glory upon them is ceaseless and does not run out – Zech 4:4

        • The Glory upon them cannot be influenced by their weaknesses

        • Such people do not need to perform before God or fear God

  • Yes, down to this [very] day whenever Moses is read,

    • a veil lies upon their minds and hearts.

  • But whenever a person turns [in repentance] to the Lord,

    • the veil is stripped off and taken away.

      • That which has caused man to be separated from God has been removed

        • Sin has separated us from God

        • Jesus died for our sins and gave us His Righteousness

      • We have now been reconciled to God – We are not living in fear of God anymore

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). [Isa. 61:1, 2.] 18  And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendour and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

  • 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit,

    • Who is the Lord?

    • The word Lord means master!

    • In the Old Testament God was called the Lord of all the earth!

    • We must understand that Jesus is God in the flesh!

  • and where the Spirit of the Lord is,

    • The Lord is The Spirit = God is the Spirit = Jesus is the Lord

    • there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

      • The Spirit now lives on the inside of us

      • The Spirit brought freedom – Lifted the veil – Veil is the separation which came because of sin

    •  [Isa. 61:1, 2.]

  • 18  And all of us, as with unveiled face,

    • God has removed the veil over our hearts by His Spirit so that we are made free so that we have unbroken fellowship with Him

  •  [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God]

    • The Fullness of God, in Christ, lives in us – the veil has been lifted

    • What causes us not to hear? Lies / Fear / Unbelief / Emotions / Hardness of heart

    • as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,

      • All we need to do it to BEHOLD as in a mirror – Just look at Jesus! – What would Jesus says or do?

    • are constantly being transfigured into His very own image

      • in ever increasing splendour and from one degree of glory to another;

  • [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.

    • Hearing God’s voice now is easy again! Just listen by faith!

The Incense Altar

Heb 9:1 NOW EVEN the first covenant had its own rules and regulations for divine worship, and it had a sanctuary [but one] of this world. [Exod. 25:10-40.] 2 For a tabernacle (tent) was erected, in the outer division or compartment of which were the lampstand and the table with [its loaves of] the showbread set forth. [This portion] is called the Holy Place. [Lev. 24:5, 6.] 3 But [inside] beyond the second curtain or veil, [there stood another] tabernacle [division] known as the Holy of Holies. [Exod. 26:31-33.] 4 It had the golden altar of incense and the ark (chest) of the covenant, covered over with wrought gold. This [ark] contained a golden jar which held the manna and the rod of Aaron that sprouted and the [two stone] slabs of the covenant [bearing the Ten Commandments]. [Exod. 16:32-34; 30:1-6; Num. 17:8-10.] 5 Above [the ark] and overshadowing the mercy seat were the representations of the cherubim [winged creatures which were the symbols] of glory. We cannot now go into detail about these things. 6  These arrangements having thus been made, the priests enter [habitually] into the outer division of the tabernacle in performance of their ritual acts of worship.

  • How the High Priest entered the Most Holy – Supernaturally translated into the Most Holy Place

  • There is still a law or rule – This the Rule of faith

  • Something has changed from the Old Tabernacle to the New?

Psa 141:2 Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. [I Tim. 2:8; Rev. 8:3, 4.]

  • Prayer = Incense

  • Lifting of Hands = Evening sacrifice

1Tim 2:1 FIRST OF all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men,...

  • God still desire Prayers and intercessions to be made

  • Thanksgiving to be offered to God always

1Tim 2:8  I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarrelling or resentment or doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands.

  • The Lifting of hands remained in the New Testament

  • When I was caught up – Standing before the Throne NOW

  • We worship before the throne in heaven!

Ps 63:1 A Psalm of David; when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O GOD, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. 2 So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory. 3 Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. 4 So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. 5  My whole being shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips 6  When I remember You upon my bed and meditate on You in the night watches. 7 For You have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings will I rejoice. 8 My whole being follows hard after You and clings closely to You; Your right hand upholds me.

  • David longed to enter in

  • We have been given entrance – Twice deceived

  • The Shadow of His wings – Refers to the Cherubim / Two Cherubs who surrounds the throne and both which God sits

  • God is Love – When we enter into His loving kindness with lifted hands we enter the true tabernacle in heaven

  • I used to make every effort to enter in and I did – We have free access with boldness because of God

Lev 16:12  He shall take a censer full of burning coals of fire from off the [bronze] altar before the Lord, and his two hands full of sweet incense beaten small, and bring it within the veil [into the Holy of Holies], 13  And put the incense on the fire [in the censer] before the Lord, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is upon [the ark of] the Testimony, lest he die. 14 He shall take of the bull's blood and sprinkle it with his finger on the front [the east side] of the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat he shall sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times.

  • Priests had to burn incense

  • Sprinkle blood on the east side of the Ark of the Covenant 7 times – Perfect redemption from sin

Rev 5:8 And when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders [of the heavenly Sanhedrin] prostrated themselves before the Lamb. Each was holding a harp (lute or guitar), and they had golden bowls full of incense (fragrant spices and gums for burning), which are the prayers of God's people (the saints).

  • The Incense are the prayers of the saints

  • Incense makes a cloud of a mist in the temple

  • The Mist is a symbol of the Glory of God – The Thick Presence = Manifested Presence

Rev 8:3 And another angel came and stood over the altar. He had a golden censer, and he was given very much incense (fragrant spices and gums which exhale perfume when burned), that he might mingle it with the prayers of all the people of God (the saints) upon the golden altar before the throne. [Ps. 141:2.]

  • Our prayers have been heard – God always hear our prayers

  • No more 21 days to pass through

Luke 1:8 Now while on duty, serving as priest before God in the order of his division, 9  As was the custom of the priesthood, it fell to him by lot to enter [the sanctuary of] the temple of the Lord and burn incense. [Exod. 30:7.] 10  And all the throng of people were praying outside [in the court] at the hour of incense [burning]. 11  And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord, standing at the right side of the altar of incense. 12  And when Zachariah saw him, he was troubled, and fear took possession of him. 13  But the angel said to him, Do not be afraid, Zachariah, because your petition was heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you must call his name John [God is favourable].

  • Prayer and intercession = Labour in travail like a women in child birth pains

  • Our highest calling as a priest is to make intercession & to travail in prayer for others

Standing before God

Deut 10:8 At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister to Him and to bless in His name unto this day.

Deu 18:5  For the Lord your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand to minister in the name [and presence] of the Lord, him and his sons forever.

Psa 134:1  A Song of Ascents. BEHOLD, BLESS (affectionately and gratefully praise) the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, [singers] who by night stand in the house of the Lord. [I Chron. 9:33.] 2  Lift up your hands in holiness and to the sanctuary and bless the Lord [affectionately and gratefully praise Him]! 3 The Lord bless you out of Zion, even He Who made heaven and earth.

2Chron 29:10 Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the Lord, the God of Israel, that His fierce anger may turn away from us. 11 My sons, do not now be negligent, for the Lord has chosen you to stand in His presence, to serve Him, to be His ministers, and to burn incense to Him.

  • Priest must stand before God in worship

  • Stand before the Lord – Lifting up Holy Hands before God

  • Do not negligent worshipping God

  • We need know we stand before His throne when we come to pray.

  • It is more important to minister to God than the people

  • Prayer, worship and intercession is pleasing to God

The Meaning of the instruments in the Temple:

The Cloud of Glory

2Chron 5:13 And when the trumpeters and singers were joined in unison, making one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments for song and praised the Lord, saying, For He is good, for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever, then the house of the Lord was filled with a cloud, 14  So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

  • The priests could not stand before God’s presence

Worship, Prayer & Intercession

Rom 8:26  So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. 27  And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God's will. [Ps. 139:1, 2.] 28  We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labour] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.

  • Praying in the Spirit – Supports our prayer life

  • The Incense Altar must always be level

  • We must always praise God – whether we are up / down

  • 2 Rings – The Understanding with the mind & Praying in the Spirit

  • Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us

1Cor 14:15 Then what am I to do? I will pray with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will also pray [intelligently] with my mind and understanding; I will sing with my spirit [by the Holy Spirit that is within me], but I will sing [intelligently] with my mind and understanding also.

  • Praying in the Spirit – Speaking in Tongues

Sweet Incense to God

Ex 30:34 Then the Lord said to Moses, Take sweet spices, stacte, onycha, and galbanum, sweet spices with pure frankincense, an equal amount of each 35  And make of them incense, a perfume after the perfumer's art, seasoned with salt and mixed, pure and sacred. 36  You shall beat some of it very small and put some of it before the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you; it shall be to you most holy. 37  And the incense which you shall make according to its composition you shall not make for yourselves; it shall be to you holy to the Lord. 38  Whoever makes any like it for perfume shall be cut off from his people.

  • Stacte – Like a Mire Tree – No effort – Given freely

  • Onycha – Bark to be split - Brokenness

  • Galbanum – Shell fish – 400 – 600ft deep – Depth of the heart – Absolute sincerity

  • Frankincense – Comes from a tree taken at twilight – Just before the day breaks – Just before the answer comes at the difficult hours

  • Salt – Must be blended – Combined by crushing – Love salts everything

  • God does not want counterfeits = Strange Fire

  • All these spices are for healing

  • God is preparing us – Praise God in all things – work out all for good for those who love Him

  • God is not destroying us, We don’t always understand why?

Ex 15:22 Then Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea and they went into the Wilderness of Shur; they went three days [thirty-three miles] in the wilderness and found no water. 23  When they came to Marah, they could not drink its waters for they were bitter; therefore it was named Marah [bitterness]. 24  The people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? 25  And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree, which he cast into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There [the Lord] made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there He proved them, 26  Saying, If you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you.

  • Milk of Magnesia – Laxative – Cleansing / Fasting

  • The Branch – Nazareth – Place of Jesus’ birth – Refer to Jesus

  • We were made righteous – It is right to belief you we made perfect

  • We must present our prayers to God. Bring all to God and leave it on the altar before God.

  • Allow it to be consumed and burnt up. Do not worry. God always hears your prayers

  • If we need extra encouragement we must take hold of the horn of the altar for strength – We must find our strength in the blood of Jesus paid the price on the cross for us and also in God’s Presence and the knowledge that He hears our prayers and in prayer and intercession knowing the Holy Spirit is also interceding for us

Zion – The Mountain of God

Ps 102:13  You will arise and have mercy and loving-kindness for Zion, for it is time to have pity and compassion for her; yes, the set time has come [the moment designated]. [Ps. 12:5; 119:126.] 14 For Your servants take [melancholy] pleasure in the stones [of her ruins] and show pity for her dust. 15  So the nations shall fear and worshipfully revere the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth Your glory. [Ps. 96:9.] 16  When the Lord builds up Zion, He will appear in His glory; 17 He will regard the plea of the destitute and will not despise their prayer.

Heb 12:18 For you have not come [as did the Israelites in the wilderness] to a [material] mountain that can be touched, [a mountain] that is ablaze with fire, and to gloom and darkness and a raging storm, 19 And to the blast of a trumpet and a voice whose words make the listeners beg that nothing more be said to them. [Exod. 19:12-22; 20:18-21; Deut. 4:11, 12; 5:22-27.] 20 For they could not bear the command that was given: If even a wild animal touches the mountain, it shall be stoned to death. [Exod. 19:12, 13.] 21 In fact, so awful and terrifying was the [phenomenal] sight that Moses said, I am terrified (aghast and trembling with fear). [Deut. 9:19.] 22  But rather, you have come to Mount Zion, even to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless multitudes of angels in festal gathering, 23 And to the church (assembly) of the Firstborn who are registered [as citizens] in heaven, and to the God Who is Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous (the redeemed in heaven) who have been made perfect, 24 And to Jesus, the Mediator (Go-between, Agent) of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood which speaks [of mercy], a better and nobler and more gracious message than the blood of Abel [which cried out for vengeance]. [Gen. 4:10.]

  • Mount Zion = The Heavenly assembly of God in Jesus Christ with all the Holy Angels

  • Mount Zion = Holy and Spiritual mountain

  • Mount Zion = Church of Jesus Christ

  • Ps 2:6, Ps 3:4, Ps 15, Ps 43:3, Ps 99:9, Dan 9:20, Isa 2:1-5

  • The Holy Hill = Mount Zion

  • Jesus is enthroned on the Holy hill of God

  • God answers from His Holy Hill – Zion

  • God’s Tabernacle and the Holy Hill are equated with one another

  • We must worship at the Holy Hill of God

God will teach us in His Holy hill

The Spirit without Measure

Isa 59:1 BEHOLD, THE Lord's hand is not shortened at all, that it cannot save, nor His ear dull with deafness, that it cannot hear. 2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear. 3 For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue mutters wickedness. 4 None sues or calls in righteousness [but for the sake of doing injury to others--to take some undue advantage]; no one goes to law honestly and pleads [his case] in truth; they trust in emptiness, worthlessness and futility, and speaking lies! They conceive mischief and bring forth evil!

  • We are not separated from God anymore

  • We are sons of our Father in heaven – Sons of God

  • We can come to Him anytime and enter into before the Throne of God

Isa 59:15 Yes, truth is lacking, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. And the Lord saw it, and it displeased Him that there was no justice. 16  And He saw that there was no man and wondered that there was no intercessor [no one to intervene on behalf of truth and right]; therefore His own arm brought Him victory, and His own righteousness [having the Spirit without measure] sustained Him. [Isa. 53:11; Col. 2:9; I John 2:1, 2.]

  • God wanted a righteous man to intercede, go between Him and men like Moses, but found no one on earth

  • God decided to come Himself

  • God came in the Fullness of the Spirit – holding nothing back!!!

  • He came to do it Himself – His own Arm

  • He came in His own perfect righteousness – Kept the law

The Seal of Approval

John 3:33 Whoever receives His testimony has set his seal of approval to this: God is true. [That man has definitely certified, acknowledged, declared once and for all, and is himself assured that it is divine truth that God cannot lie]. 34 For since He Whom God has sent speaks the words of God [proclaims God's own message], God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit! [Deut. 18:18.]

  • The seal of approval = Holy Spirit (2Cor 1:22 & Eph 1:13) = You are my Son in whom I am well pleased

  • When God gave Jesus His Spirit - The fullness of God lived in Him bodily – Col 2:

  • There was nothing of Jesus accept the Father alone in Him

Luke 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized, and [while He was still] praying, the [visible] heaven was opened 22 And the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven, saying, You are My Son, My Beloved! In You I am well pleased and find delight! [Ps. 2:7; Isa. 42:1.]

  • The Spirit came upon Jesus = Seal of approval

  • The Spirit came in bodily form

  • God is well pleased with His Son Jesus! He calls Him His Beloved Son

  • We have become the beloved sons of God in Christ
