The Spirit of the LORD is Upon Me

Isa 61:1-3 THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, [Rom. 10:15.] 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favour] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, [Matt. 11:2-6; Luke 4:18, 19; 7:22.] 3 To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. 4 And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.

  • THE SPIRIT of the Lord God is upon me,

    • This a prophecy that was directly fulfilled when Jesus Christ was baptized in water and the Spirit of God came upon Him

    • God’s Spirit was upon Jesus Christ

      • Now the same Spirit of God can also come upon us

    • because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to

      • This is something very important:

        • The Spirit came upon Jesus Christ BECAUSE He was set-apart

        • NOT

        • The Spirit of God came upon Jesus Christ, therefore He was anointed

        • Which one came first and which one is more important?

          • The Spirit of the Lord OR To be anointed and qualified/set-apart?

      • What does it mean to be anointed? Set-apart and chosen and qualified for a specific purpose

      • Ps 2:6-9 Yet have I anointed (installed and placed) My King [firmly] on My holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree of the Lord: He said to Me, You are My Son; this day [I declare] I have begotten You. [Heb. 1:5; Heb. 3:5-6; 2Pe. 1:17-18] 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like potters' ware. [Rev. 12:5; Rev. 19:15]

      • God decreed and anointed Jesus Christ as ‘the King’ and as ‘the Son’ of God,

        • giving Him everything as His inheritance and possession – All things belongs to Him

        • giving Him all authority over the work of the enemy to break them into pieces

      • Thus, because God had declared that Jesus Christ as His Son and His King,

        • therefore God’s Spirit rested upon Him

      • Therefore God put’s His Spirit (Heart and mind) on what He has approved and made fit for use!

      • preach the Gospel of good tidings

        • The gospel is good news – Jesus came to bring good news of hope and life

        • to the meek, the poor, and afflicted;

      • He has sent me

        • to bind up and heal the broken-hearted,

        • to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and

        • the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, [Rom. 10:15.]

      • To proclaim

        • the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favour] and

        • the day of vengeance of our God,

        • to comfort all who mourn, [Matt. 11:2-6; Luke 4:18, 19; 7:22.]

          • God wants to comfort His children

        • To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion

        • to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes,

        • the oil of joy instead of mourning,

        • the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit

          • that they may be called oaks of righteousness

            • We must understand the righteousness of God

            • God wants to exchange the ashes and the ruins for beauty and righteousness

            • [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God],

            • the planting of the Lord,

          • that He may be glorified.

          • And they shall rebuild the ancient ruins;

            • God send us to restore the ancient truths or mysteries of God, which were lost.

            • Jesus Christ came to show us the way

          • they shall raise up the former desolations and

          • renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.

I will be with you always

Matt 28:19-20 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 Teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you, and behold, I am with you all the days (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion), to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

  • Go then

    • and make disciples of all the nations,

      • We must make ‘disciples’ – to make disciples is an active process of training and making some one into be a disciple of Jesus Christ

      • We make disciples by our example

    • baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

      • Baptize them

    • teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you,

      • Teach them to obey / follow / keep

    • and behold, I am with you all the days

      • Jesus promised that He will always be with those who do His will

      • The promise Jesus made has not yet been completed – we are still to be making disciples

        • Thus Jesus is always with us through His Spirit – The Holy Spirit

      •  (perpetually, uniformly, and on every occasion),

      • to the [very] close and consummation of the age. Amen (so let it be).

      • Jesus promised to be with us to the very end of the age. It is not yet the end of the age!

The Holy Spirit Promised in Old Testament

My Laws on your hearts

Isa 59:21 As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord: My Spirit, Who is upon you [and Who writes the law of God inwardly on the heart], and My words which I have put in your mouth shall not depart out of your mouth, or out of the mouths of your [true, spiritual] children, or out of the mouths of your children's children, says the Lord, from henceforth and forever. [Jer. 31:33; Rom. 11:26, 27; Gal. 3:29; Heb. 12:22-24.]

  • As for Me, this is My covenant or league with them, says the Lord:

    • My Spirit,

      • Who is upon you [and

        • The Spirit of God will come upon us

        • What happens when the Spirit of God comes upon us?

      • Who writes the law of God inwardly on the heart], and

        • God will write His law on our hearts

        • God does not only give us knowledge in the mind, but gives us a changed heart!

    • My words

      • which I have put in your mouth shall not depart

        • When the Word of God is truly in our hearts it will spontaneously come out of our mouths

        • out of your mouth, or

        • out of the mouths of your [true, spiritual] children, or

        • out of the mouths of your children's children,

        • This was not only a promise for only a few generations, but were for generations to generations until the end of the age

  • says the Lord, from henceforth and forever.

    • This will be a covenant that will last for all generations and will never become absolute

    • This promises did not stop when the apostles died

    •  [Jer. 31:33; Rom. 11:26, 27; Gal. 3:29; Heb. 12:22-24.]

Power to Overcome - Enemy under our Feet

Mal 4:2-6 But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy. 3 And you shall tread down the lawless and wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the Lord of hosts. 4 [Earnestly] remember the law of Moses, My servant, the statutes and the ordinances which I commanded him on [Mount] Horeb [to give] to all Israel. 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. [Matt. 11:14; 17:10-13.] 6 And he shall turn and reconcile the hearts of the [estranged] fathers to the [ungodly] children, and the hearts of the [rebellious] children to [the piety of] their fathers [a reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly], lest I come and smite the land with a curse and a ban of utter destruction. [Luke 1:17.]

  • But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name

    • We must live in great reverence and worship of God

    • shall the Sun of Righteousness arise

      • This does NOT say the Son, but the SUN

      • Jesus is the Sun of Righteousness!

      • with healing in His wings and His beams,

        • He will bring us healing and power

          • His wings are the Tzitzit – the tassels at the edge of the priest’s prayer shawl

            • The tzitizit is a tassle that is woven to spell the Name of God

          • His Beams – The Power - See the Key to hearing God’s Voice

        • and you shall go forth and gambol like calves [released] from the stall

        • and leap for joy.

        • And you shall tread down the lawless and wicked,

          • for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet

            • in the day that I shall do this, says the Lord of hosts.

  • [Earnestly] remember the law of Moses, My servant,

    • the statutes and the ordinances which I commanded him on [Mount] Horeb [to give] to all Israel.

    • God want us to be reminded how He dealt with Moses and Israel in a very personal way

    • God wants us to be reminded of the days of Moses and what He did and how He trampled their enemies

  • Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

    • God will send the Spirit of Elijah to restore all things

    • What is the Spirit of Elijah? Whose Spirit lived in Elijah?

    • The same power that Moses and Elijah had will return to the earth

    • before

      • the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. [Matt. 11:14; 17:10-13.]

        • And he shall turn and reconcile the hearts of the [estranged] fathers

          • to the [ungodly] children,

        • and the hearts of the [rebellious] children

          • to [the piety of] their fathers

        • [a reconciliation produced by repentance of the ungodly],

    • lest I come

      • and smite the land with a curse

      • and a ban of utter destruction. [Luke 1:17.]

      • The earth has not yet be struck by a ban of utter destruction, therefore this has NOT yet been fully fulfilled

Attesting signs and miracles follow

Mark 16:15-20 And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel) to every creature [of the whole human race]. 16 He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death]; but he who does not believe [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth] will be condemned. 17 And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages; 18 They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well. 19 So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God. [Ps. 110:1.] 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [it]. Amen (so be it).

  • And He said to them,

    • Go into all the world and preach and publish openly the good news (the Gospel)

      • Go! It is a command, don’t have to wait for a voice or a specific calling before you go!

      • to every creature [of the whole human race].

    • He who believes [who adheres to and trusts in and relies on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth]

      • and is baptized will be saved [from the penalty of eternal death];

        • We must believe AND be baptized

        • God tests our obedience – Obedience is equal to faith

    • but he who does not believe

      • Disobedience is equal to unbelief and rebellion

      • [who does not adhere to and trust in and rely on the Gospel and Him Whom it sets forth]

      • will be condemned.

    • And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe:

      • Signs and wonders will follow those who believe and obey Jesus’ command

    • in My name they will drive out demons;

    • they will speak in new languages;

    • They will pick up serpents;

    • and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them;

    • they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.

      • The sick will be healed

  • So then the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them,

    • was taken up into heaven and He sat down at the right hand of God. [Ps. 110:1.]

    • And they went out and preached everywhere,

      • We must preach the word in season and out of season

        • When people want to hear it and when they don’t want to hear it.

          • Then the power of God will follow us

    • while the Lord kept working with them and confirming the message

      • by the attesting signs and miracles that closely accompanied [it].

    • Amen (so be it).

Faith in God

You will do what I have done

John 14:12-14 I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, if anyone steadfastly believes in Me, he will himself be able to do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father. 13 And I will do [I Myself will grant] whatever you ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM], so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son. [Exod. 3:14.] 14 [Yes] I will grant [I Myself will do for you] whatever you shall ask in My Name [as presenting all that I AM].

  • I assure you, most solemnly I tell you,

    • if anyone steadfastly believes in Me,

      • This promise was made by Jesus to all who believed in His Words

      • This promise is for every believer who wants to truly follow Jesus Christ

      • We need to take Jesus’ Words just as He promised it to us

      • We must be consistent in our faith and trust in God

      • he will himself be able to do the things that I do;

        • When we consistently walk/abide in the teachings of Jesus we will see the same signs and wonders follow us that followed Jesus Christ

      • and he will do even greater things than these,

        • Jesus actually promises that those who come after Him will actually be able to great miracles than He Himself, because He had gone to the Father

        • because I go to the Father.

  • And I will do [I Myself

    • will grant] whatever you ask in My Name

      • When we walk in faithfulness to the Word of Jesus – then Jesus Himself will grant the answer to our prayer and request

      • [as presenting all that I AM],

        • The Word Name does not only mean a literal name of a person – Like John

        • But the word means: “in the authority of” the person

        • When I do something in someone else name – that person gives me full right to use his authority and legal right

        • Here the scripture also plays on another very important point WHY Jesus Himself will answer what is asked in His NAME: I AM!

        • A great mystery lies hidden in the true meaning of the name of Jesus in Hebrew!

        • Jesus is the perfect representative of the fullness of God in bodily form!

        • When we pray with this understanding the heavens shudder at the Name of JESUS CHRIST

        • so that the Father may be glorified and extolled in (through) the Son. [Exod. 3:14.]

          • Everything God answers is not to our personal glory as if we were so spiritual to get God to hear us, but all was and are done on the grounds of what Jesus has already done!

  • [Yes] I will grant [I Myself

    • will do for you] whatever you shall ask in My Name

      • God will answer any prayer we ask – as long as we know WHO He represents and WHAT He has paid for

      • [as presenting all that I AM].

        • In the Amplified bible this phrase is added - presenting all that I AM

        • The Name of Jesus is what He in His fullness represented

      • Thus we must ask – who is Jesus Christ? What and who does He represent?

      • Jesus represents God Himself - the Great I AM!

      • But Jesus is more than just a representor of God – He IS the Great I AM Himself (John 8:58)

THOSE WHO HAVE A CONSISTENT FAITH IN WHO JESUS CHRIST IS AND WHAT HE HAS DONE WILL DO WHAT HE HAS DONE AND GREATER THINGS

Faith comes by the Word of God

Rom 10:17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

  • So faith comes by hearing [what is told],

    • Hearing the Word of God brings conviction and stronger faith

    • and what is heard comes by the preaching

      • [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).

        • The Message of Christ is the Word of God

        • Faith comes when we hear the Word of God preached

What is faith?

Heb 11:1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

  • NOW FAITH is

    • The Greek word for faith - Πίστις – pistis - pis'-tis - From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

    • Conversion of knowledge to the heart “to grasp” something – Believe what you cannot see

    • the assurance

      • When we are fully convinced and have a settled trust in God’s promises we will see them come to pass

      • (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for,

        • The first phase of faith is hope

        • We need hope in order to even want to think of having trust or faith in God’s Word

      • being the proof of things [we] do not see

        • Faith is believing before seeing and seeing what is not yet visible but now becomes real

        • We have a different view of life – we say seeing is believing

      • and the conviction of their reality

        • God wants to have a deep conviction of the Word of God

        • We need to believe the Word of God above our circumstances

        • [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Faith like a mustard seed

Matt 17:19-21 Then the disciples came to Jesus and asked privately, Why could we not drive it out? 20 He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. 21 For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

  • Then the disciples came to Jesus and asked privately, Why could we not drive it out?

  • He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith

    • Jesus gave only one reason why the disciples could not drive out the demon – because of SMALL FAITH or UNBELIEF!

    • [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust].

  • For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed,

    • Jesus compares the grain of mustard with faith! Why?

    • The mustard seed contains the highest synapses effect in nature – Ability to put into practice

    • you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move;

      • Jesus here reveals that we need to speak/say the Words

      • We need to point out what is out mountain or obstacle in life and speak to it

    • and nothing will be impossible to you.

      • When we have faith nothing will be impossible for us to achieve or to do!

No doubt in your heart

Mark 11:22 And Jesus, replying, said to them, Have faith in God [constantly]. 23 Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it WILL be done for him. 24 For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it IS granted to you, and you will [get it].

  • And Jesus, replying, said to them,

    • Have faith in God [constantly].

      • Is Jesus is telling His disciples to believe in God? No

      • Jesus telling us to constantly have faith in God

      • We must live a life of faith in God – Living from faith to faith!

  • Truly I tell you,

    • whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!

      • Here Jesus reveals a great mystery about HOW to believe

      • Many times when people read this verse they think Jesus tells us to believe when we pray to God

      • Thus people want to ask God to do the work for them, but Jesus told them to SPEAK what they wanted

    • and does not doubt at all in his heart

      • We often say we should not doubt, but miss what Jesus revealed His disciples

      • We should not only believe once, but be completely convinced in our HEARTS that what we says will be done for us!

      • We actually command the thing to do what we want it to do!

      • but believes that what he says will take place,

    • it WILL be done for him.

      • God will be so ONE with a person who SPEAK/COMMAND in faith that HE will do it through them

  • For this reason I am telling you,

    • Here Jesus reveals what He means when He said: SAYS to this mountain

    • whatever you ask for in prayer,

      • Jesus clarify that THIS is another kind of PRAYER: This is to command in faith – WORD OF FAITH

      • This is called a PRAYER OF FAITH – Commanding a thing to obey!

      • Thank God who has already given you what you asked of Him

      • believe (trust and be confident) that it IS granted to you,

        • We should be fully convinced that WHAT we command HAS ALREADY be granted

        • In order to have such faith we must be

          • Full convinced of God’s love

          • Our righteousness before God in Christ

          • Our personal righteousness towards God, because of His love and mercy for us

            • There must be a great thankfulness and reverence for God

        • THEN we can be bold before God in PRAYER

          • We can come before His throne of GRACE

        • We can only be convinced that is ALREADY granted when we know that God has DONE what was need and fully paid the price

        • God has done His part. It is now our part to be fully thankful and believe God HAS DONE it

      • and you will [get it].

God always hears us

John 11:41-43 So they took away the stone. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 Yes, I know You always hear and listen to Me, but I have said this on account of and for the benefit of the people standing around, so that they may believe that You did send Me [that You have made Me Your Messenger]. 43 When He had said this, He shouted with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!

  • So they took away the stone.

  • And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said,

    • Father, I thank You that You have heard Me.

      • Jesus declared that His Father has ALREADY heard Him

      • Jesus had a love and trust relationship with His Father

      • Jesus knew His Father’s heart

      • There was nothing between Jesus and His Father – they were in a perfect relationship with one another

      • When nothing is between two people they are in a perfectly righteous relationship towards one another

    • Yes, I know You always hear and listen to Me,

      • Jesus declared that due to His perfect and blameless relationship God ALWAYS hears Him

      • but I have said this on account of and for the benefit of the people standing around,

        • Jesus made this statement for a reason – He wanted us to know that He was in a perfect relationship with God His Father

        • God also want us to come into a perfect righteous relationship with God the Father

      • so that they may believe that You did send Me

        • This was also an authenticating sign to the people that He was in a blameless relationship with God

        •  [that You have made Me Your Messenger].

  • When He had said this,

    • He shouted with a loud voice, Lazarus, come out!

      • We see here that Jesus command Lazarus, with great authority, to get up!

      • Jesus could do this because He had a right and blameless relationship with God

Abraham’s faith

Rom 4:17-22 As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations. [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God in Whom he believed, Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed. [Gen. 17:5.] 18 [For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone, hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be. [Gen. 15:5.] 19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body, which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old, or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah's [deadened] womb. [Gen. 17:17; 18:11.] 20 No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God, 21 Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised. 22 That is why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).

  • As it is written, I have made you the father of many nations.

  • [He was appointed our father] in the sight of God

    • in Whom he believed,

      • Trust God when He speaks

      • Don’t ask wavering questions in your mind

      • God calls those things which are not as if they are already in existence

      • Praise & Thank God as if you have already received the answer

      • Important Secret – God always hears me

    • Who gives life to the dead

      • Paul says that God gave life to those things that ARE dead

      • God’s to give life to us who feel dead on the inside

    • and speaks of the nonexistent things that

      • Here Paul revealed that God spoke those things that came into existence, into existence BY SPEAKING!

      • [He has foretold and promised]

      • as if they [already] existed. [Gen. 17:5.]

        • Here Paul reveals what faith is!

        • When we speak to things AS IF they HAVE ALREADY happened

  • [For Abraham, human reason for] hope being gone,

    • hoped in faith that he should become the father of many nations,

      • as he had been promised, So [numberless] shall your descendants be. [Gen. 15:5.]

    • He did not weaken in faith

      • when he considered the [utter] impotence of his own body,

        • which was as good as dead because he was about a hundred years old,

      • or [when he considered] the barrenness of Sarah's [deadened] womb. [Gen. 17:17; 18:11.]

    • No unbelief or distrust made him waver

      • (doubtingly question)

      • concerning the promise of God,

    • but he grew strong and was empowered by faith

      • as he gave praise and glory to God,

    • Fully satisfied and assured

      • that God was able

      • and mighty to keep His word

      • and to do what He had promised.

  • That is why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).

Unbelief in the heart

John 12:37-40 Even though He had done so many miracles before them (right before their eyes), yet they still did not trust in Him and failed to believe in Him 38 So that what Isaiah the prophet said was fulfilled: Lord, who has believed our report and our message? And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown (unveiled and revealed)? [Isa. 53:1.] 39 Therefore they could not believe [they were unable to believe]. For Isaiah has also said, 40 He has blinded their eyes and hardened and benumbed their [callous, degenerated] hearts [He has made their minds dull], to keep them from seeing with their eyes and understanding with their hearts and minds and repenting and turning to Me to heal them.

  • Even though He had done so many miracles before them (right before their eyes),

    • yet they still did not trust in Him

    • and failed to believe in Him

  • So that what Isaiah the prophet said was fulfilled:

    • Lord, who has believed our report and our message?

    • And to whom has the arm (the power) of the Lord been shown (unveiled and revealed)? [Isa. 53:1.]

    • Therefore they could not believe [they were unable to believe].

  • For Isaiah has also said,

    • He has blinded their eyes and

      • Our spiritual eyes are closed.

    • hardened and benumbed

      • The Heart is numbed by sin.

      • their [callous, degenerated] hearts

        • We are not sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s voice / Guidance.

        • [He has made their minds dull],

    • to keep them from seeing with their eyes and

    • understanding with their hearts and minds

    • and repenting and turning to Me to heal them.

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Living Water

John 4:10-14 Jesus answered her, If you had only known and had recognized God's gift and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink, you would have asked Him [instead] and He would have given you living water. 11 She said to Him, Sir, You have nothing to draw with [no drawing bucket] and the well is deep; how then can You provide living water? [Where do You get Your living water?] 12 Are You greater than and superior to our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well and who used to drink from it himself, and his sons and his cattle also? 13-14 Jesus answered her, All who drink of this water will be thirsty again. But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.

  • Jesus answered her,

    • If you had only known

    • and had recognized God's gift

      • God gives His Spirit as a free gift to those who believe

    • and Who this is that is saying to you, Give Me a drink,

    • you would have asked Him [instead]

      • We simply need to ask God for the gift of the Holy Spirit

    • and He would have given you living water.

      • Jesus compare the Gift of the Holy Spirit to living water

  • She said to Him, Sir, You have nothing to draw with [no drawing bucket] and the well is deep;

    • how then can You provide living water? [Where do You get Your living water?]

    • Are You greater than and superior to our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well and who used to drink from it himself, and his sons and his cattle also?

  • Jesus answered her, All who drink of this water will be thirsty again.

    • But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him

      • Jesus is the one who will give us the Gift of the Holy Spirit

      • When we receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit it will seem like we are giving water to drink

      • shall never, no never, be thirsty any more.

        • Many people do not realize that they have a hunger and thirst which can’t be stilled

        • God made a place in us that only He can fill up (Ecc 3:11)

    • But the water that I will give him

      • shall become a spring of water welling up

        • The Holy Spirit well up, out of our being like a fountain

        • (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him

        • unto (into, for) eternal life.

Ask for the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Luke 11:9-13 So I say to you, Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you; seek and keep on seeking and you shall find; knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives; and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds; and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened. 11 What father among you, if his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; or if he asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!

  • So I say to you,

    • Ask and keep on asking and it shall be given you;

      • Jesus tell us not to give up asking God for what we desire

      • Satan do not want us to receive what God wants to give us and will resist us in the spirit

      • Perseverance is the key to breaking through

    • seek and keep on seeking and you shall find;

    • knock and keep on knocking and the door shall be opened to you.

      • For everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives;

      • and he who seeks and keeps on seeking finds;

      • and to him who knocks and keeps on knocking, the door shall be opened.

    • What father among you,

      • Jesus uses a parable to explain the perspective we should have when looking at God

      • if his son asks for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; or

      • if he asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent? Or

      • if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?

        • We do not have to fear that we will get stone or something evil when we trust God to give His Holy Spirit to us

      • If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts

        • Here Jesus is comparing the attitude of earthly fathers to that of their heavenly Father

        • Jesus is saying the people on earth are sinful and yet their fathers gives them good things

        •  [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children,

          • God wants to give us gifts that are to our advantage

          • It is God nature and desire and He loves to give gifts to his children

      • how much more

        • Here is a great mystery – God our Father in heaven is MUCH, much greater and loves us much, much more than any earthly father can ever love his children

        • will your Heavenly Father give

          • We must have the correct perspective of our Heavenly Father

          • We serve a good and loving Father

        • the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!

          • We can ask God for the Gift of Holy Spirit – He will give Him freely to us

          • Our Heavenly Father promised us His Holy Spirit

          • He wants to give us good gifts and the Holy Spirit

          • We must learn to wait and persevere until God answers

Thirst for the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Isa 55:1-3 WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. [Rev. 21:6, 7; 22:17.] 2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. [Jer. 31:12-14.] 3 Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David. [II Sam. 7:8-16; Acts 13:34; Heb. 13:20.]

  • WAIT and listen,

    • everyone who is thirsty!

      • God is looking for people who are thirsty for Him – Matt 5:6

      • Come to the waters;

    • and he who has no money,

      • come, buy and eat!

      • Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price

        • The Gift of the Holy Spirit is compared to wine and milk for a reason

          • Wine – Wine was used as a medicine for healing and as a disinfectant

          • Milk – The basic nutrition for babies and all growing animals

        • [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing].

          • This is a powerful statement – We need to surrender to God in order to receive what God want to give to us

          • We do NOT need to do anything to receive what God has for us, we JUST need to accept freely out of God’s hand of love

          • [Rev. 21:6, 7; 22:17.]

    • Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,

    • and your earnings for what does not satisfy?

      • We can put our energy into many things

      • God want us to put our energy into attaining spiritual gifts from God

      • Paul tell the church in Corinth to persue love and desire the gifts

  • Hearken diligently to Me,

    • and eat what is good,

      • and let your soul delight itself in fatness

        • When we receive the Holy Spirit, HE gives us great joy in our being

        • We must learn to enjoy the Spirit and fellowship with the Holy Spirit

        • [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. [Jer. 31:12-14.]

        • Wow!!! Look up the word profuse!!! An absolute abundant and overflowing limitless ecstasy of joy – Zeph 3:12

  • Incline your ear

    • [submit and consent to the divine will]

      • and come to Me;

      • We must in our mind’s eye and heart go to Jesus Christ

      • We must stretch ourselves to meet with Jesus

  • hear,

    • and your soul will revive; and

      • God wants our souls to find pleasure in Him then our souls will revive

  • I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you,

    • This promise or covenant from God is an everlasting promise for all who believe

  • even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David.

    • God give out of His mercy and do not withhold out of anger or anger

    • God is overcome by His love, goodness and kindness for us

  • [II Sam. 7:8-16; Acts 13:34; Heb. 13:20.]

The Promise of the Holy Spirit

Waiting for the Gift is Over

Act 1:4-5 And while being in their company and eating with them, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for what the Father had promised, Of which [He said] you have heard Me speak. [John 14:16, 26; 15:26.] 5 For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with (placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit.

  • And while being in their company and eating with them, He commanded them

    • not to leave Jerusalem

    • but to wait for what the Father had promised,

      • The Father promised us His Holy Spirit

      • We must learn to wait on God

      • To wait on God does not do nothing, but rather to expect with and an understanding of God’s desire to WANT to meet with you

      • Of which [He said] you have heard Me speak.

      • [John 14:16, 26; 15:26.]

      • For John baptized with water,

    • but not many days from now

      • you shall be baptized with (placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit.

      • You must be baptized with the Holy Spirit

      • The Word baptism is Baptizo, which means to be completely immersed

      • When we are baptized with the Holy Spirit – the Spirit in not in us, but we are IN Him

The Gift of the Holy Spirit

Act 2:36-43 Therefore let the whole house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt and acknowledge assuredly that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (the Messiah)--this Jesus Whom you crucified. 37 Now when they heard this they were stung (cut) to the heart, and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles (special messengers), Brethren, what shall we do? 38 And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself. [Isa. 57:19; Joel 2:32.] 40 And [Peter] solemnly and earnestly witnessed (testified) and admonished (exhorted) with much more continuous speaking and warned (reproved, advised, encouraged) them, saying, Be saved from this crooked (perverse, wicked, unjust) generation. 41 Therefore those who accepted and welcomed his message were baptized, and there were added that day about 3,000 souls. 42 And they steadfastly persevered, devoting themselves constantly to the instruction and fellowship of the apostles, to the breaking of bread [including the Lord's Supper] and prayers. 43 And a sense of awe (reverential fear) came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were performed through the apostles (the special messengers). 44 And all who believed (who adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus Christ) were united and [together] they had everything in common;

  • Therefore let the whole house of Israel recognize beyond all doubt and acknowledge assuredly

    • that God has made Him both Lord and Christ (the Messiah)

      • We must admit that Jesus Christ was declared by God the Father to be

        • LORD – Our GOD, KING and MASTER – We willing want to submit to His loving and perfect will, to obey Him and His Word

        • CHRIST – The Messiah or SAVIOR – He has paid the price and saved us in Spirit/soul/body

    • this Jesus Whom you crucified.

  • Now when they heard this

    • they were stung (cut) to the heart,

    • and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles (special messengers),

      • Brethren, what shall we do?

  • And Peter answered them,

    • Repent

      • (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it)

      • We must change the way we look at God and Jesus Christ and desire to do the will of God alone

      • Have you repented to follow Jesus Christ

      • What has driven you to repent?

    • and be baptized, every one of you,

      • By the Holy Spirit Peter told us that those who accept the conditions of Jesus Christ, will be baptised immediately

    • in the name of Jesus Christ

      • Peter did not say: Into the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

      • Why not? He understood WHO Jesus Christ IS!

      • The name of a person is NOT His identity by some name only, but the completeness of what He stands for!

      • for the forgiveness of and release from your sins;

      • Peter here states clearly that people must be baptized so that their sins can be forgiven!

      • When the path between us and God is not blocked anymore we can hear God’s Voice

      • Whatever was blocking the communication between us and God gets removed

    • and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

      • God promises that He WILL give His Gift to us when we are willing to admit and accept God’s unlimited mercy and favour

      • Once, when a person has been cleansed, they are ready to receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit

      • The Lord, Christ Jesus is NOW coming into believers and lives in them as the Holy Spirit

      • God does NOT give His gift of love to us, because we deserve Him, but because He Himself opened the way, making us righteous in God sight

      • For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children,

        • Through the prophets, God not only promised, but made a covenant that He will give His Gift of His Spirit, to everyone who accepts His love and mercy, as an everlasting promise until He returns

      • and to and for all that are far away,

      • [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself.

        • Jesus said: When I am lifted up, I will DRAW all men unto Me

        • God draws and Woes us to Himself through love and mercy

        • Fear will drive you only that long before it will change into rebellion

        • [Isa. 57:19; Joel 2:32.]

        • We must change the way we look at the Holy Spirit

        • We must humble yourself and not rejecting any longer the Gift of the Holy Spirit, which God wants to give us

  • And [Peter] solemnly and earnestly witnessed (testified) and admonished (exhorted) with much more continuous speaking

    • and warned (reproved, advised, encouraged) them, saying,

      • Be saved from this crooked (perverse, wicked, unjust) generation.

        • We live in a perverse generation.

  • Therefore those who accepted and welcomed his message

    • were baptized, and

    • there were added that day about 3,000 souls.

  • And they steadfastly persevered,

    • devoting themselves constantly

      • We must be devoted like the first disciples of Jesus was

      • to the instruction and fellowship of the apostles,

      • to the breaking of bread [including the Lord's Supper]

      • and prayers.

      • Jesus expects our undivided devotion to prayer / studying the scriptures and communion / love meals

    • And a sense of awe (reverential fear) came upon every soul,

      • When we come to God we will realize God is Love and He is holy

      • Those accept the Word of God will experience Him and then He will manifest Himself to people

      • Once we have an experience with the LIVING God Himself, a great sense of awe will come over you

      • and many wonders and signs were performed through the apostles (the special messengers).

  • And all who believed

    • (who adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus Christ)

    • were united and [together]

    • they had everything in common;

      • Are you living like those first century Christians?

Born of the Holy Spirit

John 3:6-8 What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh [of the physical is physical]; and what is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you, You must all be born anew (from above). 8 The wind blows (breathes) where it wills; and though you hear its sound, yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

  • What is born of [from] the flesh is flesh

    • [of the physical is physical]; and

  • what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

    • Once we are born from the Spirit will we be able to understand the things of the Spirit

    • We will become aware of a spiritual world

    • We will become sensitive to the Spirit’s Presence and guidance

  • Marvel not [do not be surprised, astonished] at My telling you,

    • You must all be born anew

      • (from above).

  • The wind blows (breathes) where it wills;

    • and though you hear its sound,

    • yet you neither know where it comes from nor where it is going.

  • So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

Baptise with the Holy Spirit and Fire

Luke 3:16 John answered them all by saying, I baptize you with water; but He Who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to unfasten. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

  • John answered them all by saying, I baptize you with water;

    • but He Who is mightier than I is coming,

      • the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to unfasten.

    • He will baptize you with

      • the Holy Spirit and with fire.

        • Jesus is the one who baptizes us with the Holy Spirit and Fire

        • The Fire refine us like in a furnace – Mal 3:1-3

        • Fire is the cleansing / the healing / deliverance power of Almighty God

        • The Fire of God is immense power that judges and destroys the work of the devil in our lives and those around us

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

You will receive Power

Act 1:8 But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

  • But you shall receive

    • power (ability, efficiency, and might)

      • Power = δύναμις – dunamis - doo'-nam-is - force; specifically miraculous power (usually by implication a miracle itself): - ability, abundance, meaning, might, worker of miracles, power, strength, violence, mighty wonderful work.

      • God’s Spirit in us starts to make us able – give us new ability we did not have before

      • The Spirit begin to teach us and lead us into ALL truth (John 16:13)

      • when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,

        • This is a gift and seems to supernaturally come upon us from the outside

        • When the Spirit of God comes upon us – He reveals God power and might

        • Nothing is impossible for God

        • In the Old Testament - The Spirit upon us is God WITH us (My opinion)

        • In the New Testament – The Spirit upon us comes from God IN us (My opinion)

  • and you

    • shall be My witnesses

      • The Holy Spirit will give us power and ability to be witnesses for Jesus Christ

      • When signs and wonders take place they will be a might witness to the glory of God

      • in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

The Holy Spirit poured Out

Acts 2:17-21 And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares, that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels] and your young men shall see visions (divinely granted appearances), and your old men shall dream [divinely suggested] dreams. 18 Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy [telling forth the divine counsels and predicting future events pertaining especially to God's kingdom]. 19 And I will show wonders in the sky above and signs on the earth beneath, blood and fire and smoking vapour; 21 And it shall be that whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord--Christ] shall be saved. [Joel 2:28-32.]

  • And it shall come to pass in the last days, God declares,

    • that I will pour out of My Spirit upon all mankind,

      • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is for everyone/all mankind

        • Both men and women

      • and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy

        • [telling forth the divine counsels]

    • and your young men shall see visions

      •  (divinely granted appearances),

      • Young men will see visions – Spiritually young

      • Will be able to start seeing visions

    • and your old men shall dream

      • [divinely suggested] dreams.

      • Old men will dream dreams – Mature in the Lord

      • We will be able to dream dreams in which God speak to us

  • Yes, and on My menservants also and on My maidservants in those days

    • Men servants and maid servants – God’s servants

    • I will pour out of My Spirit,

      • and they shall prophesy

      • [telling forth the divine counsels and predicting future events pertaining especially to God's kingdom].

      • All Holy Spirit baptized people will be able to prophecy

      • God will reveal future events to His people

      • And I will show wonders in the sky above

      • and signs on the earth beneath,

        • blood and fire and smoking vapour;

    • And it shall be that whoever

      • shall call upon the name of the Lord

      • [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord--Christ]

      • We need to entrust ourselves to Jesus Christ

      • shall be saved. [Joel 2:28-32.]

Baptized by the Holy Spirit

Act 2:1-4 AND WHEN the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all assembled together in one place, 2 When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast, and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting. 3 And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire, which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].

  • AND WHEN the day of Pentecost had fully come,

    • they were all assembled together in one place,

    • They were obedient and waited on God / Confessed their sins / Fast and prayed

    • When suddenly there came a sound from heaven like the rushing of a violent tempest blast,

      • God baptized us with the Holy Spirit by the Glory of God from above

      • We were born from above (John 1:13)

      • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit brings ability and power

      • and it filled the whole house in which they were sitting.

      • And there appeared to them tongues resembling fire,

        • Sound from heaven ‘like’ the rushing of a violent tempest blast

        • Tongues of Fire only resembled fire

        • Something like Tongues of Fire? Every man’s experienced it differently

        • According to the Spirits giving

        • which were separated and distributed and which settled on each one of them.

          • The Voice of the Lord splits and flashes forth forked lightning

      • And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit

        • Filled (diffused throughout their souls) = Filled to the brim

        • and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues),

        • as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression

        • The Holy Spirit make new things possible through us

Laying on of hands

Act 19:2-6 And he asked them, Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed [on Jesus as the Christ]? And they said, No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit. 3 And he asked, Into what [baptism] then were you baptized? They said, Into John's baptism. 4 And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance, continually telling the people that they should believe in the One Who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus [having a conviction full of joyful trust that He is Christ, the Messiah, and being obedient to Him]. 5 On hearing this they were baptized [again, this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And as Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spoke in [foreign, unknown] tongues (languages) and prophesied.

  • And he asked them,

    • Did you receive the Holy Spirit

      • Have you been baptized with the Holy Spirit – Clothed with power from God?

      • when you believed [on Jesus as the Christ]?

  • And they said,

    • No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.

  • And he asked,

    • Into what [baptism] then were you baptized?

  • They said, Into John's baptism.

  • And Paul said,

    • John baptized with the baptism of repentance,

    • continually telling the people that they should believe in the One Who was to come after him, that is, in Jesus

      • [having a conviction full of joyful trust that He is Christ, the Messiah, and being obedient to Him].

  • On hearing this

    • they were baptized [again,

    • this time] in the name of the Lord Jesus.

      • And as Paul laid his hands upon them,

      • We can receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit by laying on of hands of another believer (Act 9:17 – Paul’s conversion)

    • the Holy Spirit came on them;

    • and they spoke in [foreign, unknown] tongues (languages)

    • and prophesied.

      • The Baptism of the Holy Spirit can be indicated by people speaking in different kinds of tongues / languages or prophecy

The Holy Spirit Manifested

John 14:17-21 The Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive (welcome, take to its heart), because it does not see Him or know and recognize Him. But you know and recognize Him, for He lives with you [constantly] and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless]; I will come [back] to you. 19 Just a little while now, and the world will not see Me anymore, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20 At that time [when that day comes] you will know [for yourselves] that I am in My Father, and you [are] in Me, and I [am] in you. 21 The person who has My commands and keeps them is the one who [really] loves Me; and whoever [really] loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I [too] will love him and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him. [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]

  • The Spirit of Truth,

    • Whom the world cannot receive

      • (welcome, take to its heart),

        • Must open our hearts and not our mind/logic only

      • because it does not see Him

        • or know and recognize Him.

        • In order to be able to hear or see God’s voice we must be able to recognize the Spirit of God

        • In order to recognize the Spirit of God we must know Him or be acquainted with Him

      • But you know and recognize Him,

        • Jesus tells them that they DO know the Spirit of Truth

        • How did they get to know the Spirit of Truth?

        • for He lives with you [constantly]

          • Jesus says that the Spirit lives with them

          • When we read this we could think that He was around them but later Jesus will explain exactly what He actually means

        • and will be in you.

          • When Jesus reveals that the Holy Spirit was NOT IN them,

          • He reveals that He was only WITH them before

          • But now the Holy Spirit will be in them

        • I will not leave you as orphans

          • Jesus knew that He would soon leave the earth and that His disciples could feel like  they were left all on their own

          • [comfortless, desolate, bereaved, forlorn, helpless];

        • I will come [back] to you.

          • He Jesus comforts them and reveals that He Himself will come back to them

          • When many read this they interpret that He would die and come back to them after 3 days, but this is NOT what He refers to here

          • He told them that the world will not see Him anymore, but the disciples will see Him

          • Then He told them that He will send them the Spirit of Truth

          • Then He says HE will come back to them

          • Thus the Spirit of Truth is Jesus Himself, who was with them, but then will be IN them

  • Just a little while now,

    • and the world will not see Me anymore,

      • First Jesus said that they will not see the Spirit of Truth anymore, then He says the exact same thing about Himself

      • but you will see Me;

      • Then He continues

      • because I live,

        • After Jesus resurrected and ascended to heaven He did not die, but is still alive today

        • you will live also.

        • The SAME Jesus and the SAME Spirit now lives in us

  • At that time [when that day comes]

    • Jesus refers to a certain day – calling it that day

    • To which day does Jesus refer?

    • By the following statement it becomes clear to which DAY He did refer

    • you will know [for yourselves]

      • This is an awesome word that Jesus uses here, referring to an intimate knowing by perception and personal experience

      • They would experience and get a revelation, built on a very personal experience

      • that I am in My Father,

      • and you [are] in Me,

      • and I [am] in you.

        • When that day came His disciples would experience for themselves that He lives in them

        • The would understand what Jesus meant and spoke about spiritually

        • Many things have been misunderstood, because people teach from knowledge and not knowing or true spiritual encounter with Jesus Christ and what HE explained

  • The person who has My commands and keeps them

    • We must obey, keep and do what Jesus says

    • is the one who [really] loves Me;

    • and whoever [really] loves Me

      • will be loved by My Father,

        • God the Spirit, will honor His promise when we accept and obey Jesus’ Word

      • and I [too] will love him

        • and will show (reveal, manifest) Myself to him.

          • God wants to reveal Himself to us, through His Spirit, the same Spirit of Jesus the Christ

          • Many say it is only faith and do not expect an encounter with Our God and Saviour Jesus Christ

        • [I will let Myself be clearly seen by him and make Myself real to him.]

        • Then the Father and Jesus will become real to us

        • We will experience the Holy Spirit’s Presence

        • We will understand that the Father and Jesus are ONE and that is the Holy Spirit who lives in us

        • We will have a real living experiences with the living God

The Radiations of God

Zech 3:9 For behold, upon the stone which I have set before Joshua, upon that one stone are seven eyes or facets [the all-embracing providence of God and the sevenfold radiations of the Spirit of God]. Behold, I will carve upon it its inscription, says the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity and guilt of this land in a single day. [II Chron. 16:9; Jer. 50:20; Zech. 4:10.]

  • For behold,

    • upon the stone which I have set before Joshua,

    • upon that one stone are seven eyes or facets

      • [the all-embracing providence of God

      • and the sevenfold radiations of the Spirit of God].

        • The Presence of the Holy Spirit radiated out of Jesus Christ

        • When Jesus is IN us – His Spirit will radiate out of us like a light

        • We will experience the Spirit of God flow or radiate out of us (Isa 60:1)

        • The Spirit of God radiates or flows out of us in different forms as a variety of gifts of the Spirit

  • Behold,

    • I will carve upon it its inscription, says the Lord of hosts,

    • and I will remove the iniquity and guilt of this land in a single day.

      • God says He will remove our iniquity, sins and guilt

    • [II Chron. 16:9; Jer. 50:20; Zech. 4:10.]

The Holy Spirit in the Church

1Cor 12:1-13 NOW ABOUT the spiritual gifts (the special endowments of supernatural energy), brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed. 2 You know that when you were heathen, you were led off after idols that could not speak [habitually] as impulse directed and whenever the occasion might arise. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed! And no one can [really] say, Jesus is [my] Lord, except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit. 4 Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians, due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit) and they vary, but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same. 5 And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration, but it is the same Lord [Who is served]. 6 And there are distinctive varieties of operation [of working to accomplish things], but it is the same God Who inspires and energizes them all in all. 7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit] for good and profit. 8 To one is given in and through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] a message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge and understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit; 9 To another [wonder-working] faith by the same [Holy] Spirit, to another the extraordinary powers of healing by the one Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles, to another prophetic insight (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose); to another the ability to discern and distinguish between [the utterances of true] spirits [and false ones], to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues, to another the ability to interpret [such] tongues. 11 All these [gifts, achievements, abilities] are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, Who apportions to each person individually [exactly] as He chooses. 12 For just as the body is a unity and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). 13 For by [means of the personal agency of] one [Holy] Spirit we were all, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free, baptized [and by baptism united together] into one body, and all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit.

  • NOW ABOUT the spiritual gifts

    • (the special endowments of supernatural energy),

      • The Amplified translate spiritual gifts as supernatural energy

      • Jesus felt power left His body when He was touched by someone with faith

      • John G. Lake spoke of God’s power flowing through him like liquid fire

      • William Branham experienced his hand becoming warn and the energy left his arm them he knew the people were healed

    • brethren, I do not want you to be misinformed.

  • You know that when you were heathen,

    • you were led off after idols

      • that could not speak [habitually]

        • as impulse directed

        • and whenever the occasion might arise.

  • Therefore I want you to understand

    • that no one speaking under the power and influence of the [Holy] Spirit of God

      • We can speak under the influence or control of the Holy Spirit

      • can [ever] say, Jesus be cursed!

    • And no one can [really] say,

      • Jesus is [my] Lord,

        • except by and under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.

        • It is very easy to speak under the control of the Holy Spirit

        • It is an easy as saying or declaring that Jesus is Lord

        • Because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, when we speak the truth we speak the language of the Spirit

  • Now there are distinctive varieties and distributions of endowments

    • (gifts, extraordinary powers distinguishing certain Christians,

      • due to the power of divine grace operating in their souls by the Holy Spirit)

        • Every believer has received the SAME Spirit, but now every believer ALLOW the Spirit to flow the same through their souls (Eph 3:20)

    • and they vary,

      • Different believers allow the Spirit to operate and function through them like a tree with branches

      • Therefore is seems like the Holy Spirit work differently in each according their calling

    • but the [Holy] Spirit remains the same.

      • Once when we have been baptized in the Holy Spirit we will be able to operate in the gifts of the Spirit

  • And there are distinctive varieties of service and ministration,

    • but it is the same Lord [Who is served].

      • The purpose of the gift of the Spirit is to serve others and show the love of God to them

  • And there are distinctive varieties of operation

    • Many times we limit the Holy Spirit, thinking that He can operate only in one way

    • There are many different ways the Holy Spirit can operate

    • We must learn to understand the different way the Holy Spirit can and wants to operate in believers

    • We must find the way the Spirit of God operates through us

    • [of working to accomplish things],

    • but it is the same God

      • Who inspires and energizes them all in all.

        • God has given each one of us a different purpose and desire in our hearts

        • We must learn how the Spirit of God flows through us

  • But to each one is given

    • the manifestation of the [Holy] Spirit

      • The Holy Spirit manifest Himself in different miraculous ways to each one of us

    • [the evidence, the spiritual illumination of the Spirit]

      • Man was made in the image of God, when fallen man is born again they find the fullness potential and reason why God created each one of us

    • for good and profit.

      • There are 9 different distinguishable gifts of the Holy Spirit’s power

    • To one is given

      • in and through the [Holy] Spirit and

        • [the power to speak] a message of wisdom,

    • to another [the power to express] a word of knowledge

      • and understanding according to the same [Holy] Spirit;

    • To another [wonder-working] faith by the same [Holy] Spirit,

    • to another the extraordinary powers of healing by the one Spirit;

    • To another the working of miracles,

    • to another prophetic insight

      • (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose);

    • to another the ability to discern and distinguish

      • between [the utterances of true] spirits

      • [and false ones],

    • to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues,

    • to another the ability to interpret [such] tongues.

  • All these [gifts, achievements, abilities]

    • When we are baptized with the Holy Spirit of power and love we are awoken to the God abilities we have been granted, in Christ Jesus

    • are inspired and brought to pass by one and the same [Holy] Spirit,

      • Who apportions to each person individually [exactly] as He chooses.

        • When we read this we think that apportioned differently for each person, each one having another measure of the gifts of the Spirit, but this is NOT true

        • God has apportioned to each person the SAME potential of His Spirit

        • We determine the portion of the Spirit we will allow to flow and work in and through us

  • For just as

    • the body is a unity and yet has many parts,

    • and all the parts,

      • though many,

      • form [only] one body,

      • God knew that each believer would manifest a different aspect of His Spirit and therefore would need each other to function better together

      • We will be just like a body that has different limbs and different senses each with different functions

  • so it is with Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).

  • For by [means of the personal agency of] one [Holy] Spirit

    • we were all,

      • whether Jews or Greeks,

      • slaves or free,

      • baptized [and by baptism united together] into one body,

    • and all

      • made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit.

      • Paul explains that we were all baptised into one body, by giving us all one Spirit to drink

      • Thus baptised into one body equals made to drink one Spirit

We will do Great Exploits

Dan 11:32 And such as violate the covenant he shall pervert and seduce with flatteries, but the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm and do exploits [for God].

  • The prophet Daniel saw the future and prophesied about at time when what HE saw will be fulfilled

  • And such as violate the covenant

    • he shall pervert and seduce with flatteries,

  • but the people who know their God

    • The angel revealed to Daniel that at that time those people who know their God will do mighty works

    • The word in Hebrew for know is: יָדַע - yâda‛ - yaw-dah' - A primitive root; to know (properly to ascertain by seeing); used in a great variety of senses, figuratively, literally, euphemistically and inferentially (including observation, care, recognition; and causatively instruction, designation, punishment, etc.): - acknowledge, acquaintance (-ted with), advise, answer, appoint, assuredly, be aware, [un-] awares, can [-not], certainly, for a certainty, comprehend, consider, X could they, cunning, declare, be diligent, (can, cause to) discern, discover, endued with, familiar friend, famous, feel, can have, be [ig-] norant, instruct, kinsfolk, kinsman, (cause to, let, make) know, (come to give, have, take) knowledge, have [knowledge], (be, make, make to be, make self) known, + be learned, + lie by man, mark, perceive, privy to, X prognosticator, regard, have respect, skilful, shew, can (man of) skill, be sure, of a surety, teach, (can) tell, understand, have [understanding], X will be, wist, wit, wot.

    • God wants us to know and discern Him in a very personal way as friends

    • We must know our God and Jesus Christ in a personal way then we will:

    • shall prove themselves strong and

      • be mighty in the strength of God and in His divine power and might

    • shall stand firm and do exploits [for God].

      • Strength and stability in God’s love and in our identity in that love will cause signs and wonders to follow

      • It was prophesied that God’s people would do great exploits / works of power

      • Then God will do mighty deeds through us just like He did through the mighty men of the past

The Two Witnesses

Rev 11:4-6 These [witnesses] are the two olive trees and the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth. [Zech. 4:3, 11-14.] 5 And if anyone attempts to injure them, fire pours from their mouth and consumes their enemies; if anyone should attempt to harm them, thus he is doomed to be slain. [II Kings 1:10; Jer. 5:14.] 6 These [two witnesses] have power to shut up the sky, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying (their prediction of events relating to Christ's kingdom and its speedy triumph); and they also have power to turn the waters into blood and to smite and scourge the earth with all manner of plagues as often as they choose. [Exod. 7:17, 19; I Kings 17:1.]

  • These [witnesses]

    • are the two olive trees and

    • the two lampstands which stand before the Lord of the earth.

      • [Zech. 4:3, 11-14.]

        • Hidden in this prophecy lies a hidden mystery that is revealed in the words of the angel that appeared to the prophet Zechariah:

        • Not by might nor by power or human effort, but by the Spirit of Jesus Christ

        • The Lord showed me what I call the Menorah principle, lifting up of holy hands and hearts

    • And if anyone attempts to injure them,

      • fire pours from their mouth and consumes their enemies;

    • if anyone should attempt to harm them,

      • thus he is doomed to be slain.

      • [II Kings 1:10; Jer. 5:14.]

  • These [two witnesses]

    • have power to shut up the sky, so that no rain may fall during the days of their prophesying

      • (their prediction of events relating to Christ's kingdom and its speedy triumph); and

    • they also have power

      • to turn the waters into blood and

      • to smite and scourge the earth with all manner of plagues as often as they choose.

      • These two prophets will do the same signs and wonders and have the same power that Moses and Elijah had

      • The same kind of authority and power which Moses and Elijah had, will return to the earth before Jesus comes the second time

      • [Exod. 7:17, 19; I Kings 17:1.]
