Up Close and Personal with Jesus Christ
After 28 years of serving Jesus Christ, this week, I realized a very profound and yet very misunderstood truth!
I have always struggled between how I should spend my time with God? Should I read my bible more or should I pray more? I would always do the one better than the other and would go through seasons of reading more and seasons of praying more!
But during this week I had an epiphany! I had an amazing insight:
Nothing is more important than your relationship with God! I realized that there is no replacement for a two-way relationship with God!
When we read the Word of God we might gain amazing truth about God and His amazing character and nature, but when we pray we speak to ourselves and to God about His Word and about our hearts desires and requests.
YET, neither reading the Word and gaining knowledge or even amazing insights into the Word of God, nor prayer and even very earnest prayers - that is one-way prayers - can and must ever take the place of a living two-way relationship with God! God wants to be our friend and the lover of our souls!
To many, this is a foreign concept, even to many who say they know the Word and pray every day! We only have one-way of reading or speaking to God. God never gets involve in our lives! God never get up close and personal!
How personal is your relationship with God? Could it be that you know a lot about God and talk a lot to God, but God never says anything back?
How can you say you KNOW someone when you have never had a conversation with Him? Do you realize that Jesus wants a personal, living two-way relationship with you?
Do you know Jesus in a personal way or have you always only read about Him?
Neither God nor Jesus is dead and is only a figment of our imaginations, yet we live as if they are!
Have you never read?
"But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]." (Heb 11:6 AMP)
Do you live as if He does not really exist and treats your Father God and your Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, as if He is distant and not involved in your life today?
What does the apostle Paul mean when He says:
"The God Who produced and formed the world and all things in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in handmade shrines. 25 Neither is He served by human hands, as though He lacked anything, for it is He Himself Who gives life and breath and all things to all [people]. [Isa. 42:5] 26 And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes), 27 So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us." (Acts 17:24-27 AMP)
God wants you to feel after Him and seek after Him? When the Holy Spirit gave me this insight, during prayer and meditation on God's Word, I realized that of all those who had an encounter with God in the past, many of them met God in deserts and deserted places, where there is only calm and quietness! How did they find the God, who made all things, in such places?
They felt after Him! They, by faith, accessed what was invisible to the physical eye! Therefore God says: It is IMPOSSIBLE to PLEASE God without faith!
God spoke to the dreamers and not the realists and pessimists, who closed their hearts to the supernatural! God loved their seeking hearts and answered their cries into the stillness!
No wonder the prophet Isaiah says: "In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not,..." (Isa 30:15 AMP)
Therefore God says to David: “Be still and know that I am God!”
Let us, earnestly long for and seek after a living two way relationship with Jesus Christ and God the Father and the Holy Spirit! Thank you Jesus that you are now closer than ever, because you have opened the way through the cross! Thank you Jesus that your love for us can and will never change!
